Unique expertise: Wide ranging operational HR expertise underpinned by extensive, applied knowledge of project management methodologies, process design, and systems development. I have consistently followed through on large scale transformations and programmes with an extensive period of embedding and running the operations that have been designed. This experience allows me to ensure that any transformation programmes I run are founded on a very practical understanding of how they need to operate successfully in the BAU stage, insights that are often absent with individuals who focus solely on programme management. I bring a very strong commercial understanding to my operations. I am able to offer deep experience in the entire cycle of vendor management, ranging from managing RFP processes, through supplier life-cycle management, to re-tendering or close-down. As a consequence I have systematically been able to optimise third party costs and service quality across all the roles I have worked in. I have successfully managed large teams (400+) across all time zones, including combined internal and external (outsourced) teams. Operational experience includes supporting multiple divisions from central shared service centres.
Commerciality: In most recent role, alongside running the day to day operational HR activities, delivered a USD 29 million HR Transformation programme underpinned by deployment of new relevant HR technologies (inclusive of Workday). Project was delivered to full scope, on time and 1.8% below budget. Programme delivered the planned USD 10 million year on year savings resulting in a 3 year ROI.
Strengths: Having lived in a variety of countries and managed teams globally, I believe that one of my key strengths is my understanding of the differences in cultures, ways of working, regulations, and practices that exist in a global operation. This helps me ensure my team devise solutions appropriate for the business and the environment in which it operates. I am highly analytical and data driven, which allows me to make full use of modern technologies to identify areas for ongoing improvement and ensure that those efforts and investments actually deliver. I believe that I have an effective leadership style that empowers team members and encourages them to contribute to their fullest capability. I also work in strong partnership with key suppliers resulting in them going the extra mile.
Need to know: My natural drive for delivery and orientation for attention to detail sits well in my specialist field of HR Operations, but I am very capable of stepping back from the detail and developing the strategic direction and vision necessary to drive transformation. Many practitioners in this field have focused on either managing increasingly larger projects and programmes, or on setting up and running operations on a day to day basis. I believe that one of my key differentiators is the breadth and depth of experience I have in both of these critical areas. This allows me to deliver projects that are truly fit for operational purpose, and running transformations alongside the day to day operations.
