Carter Morris is hiring to expand their team again!
ADMINISTRATION AND RESEARCH MANAGER
ROLE FILLED - HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT OFFER
As a retained search recruitment firm, we’re paid by global organisations, who need our knowledge and expertise to find, assess and engage skilled professionals to work for their companies around the world. A large part of our work involves global research - checking whether these target professionals exist, how accurate are their CV’s, what skills could they offer, and more.
Due to our own firms continued expansion, we need to add another person with exceptional administration skills to join our global research team and on a daily basis your responsibilities will include:
Using a variety of research methods to source specific senior-level profiles globally, and booking them to speak with one of our expert career advisors
Developing an understanding of the companies we support and the countries we work across, to manage ongoing analysis and marketing updates which are distributed to provide “value add” information to our networks
Managing the many unsolicited job applicants who contact us, in a manner that treats people fairly and respectfully
Working with our broader team to ensure all compliance, regulations and project milestones are met
Scheduling calls and meetings between our firm and executive job seekers, and between our employer client companies and executive job seekers, plus managing all international travel arrangements as needed
Managing our internal systems to ensure all records are accurately maintained
You won't need previous experience of working within a global search firm. However, you will need to be proficient with zooming about Word and Excel documents, and have a level of general administration ability that has enabled you to finesse and successfully demonstrate these essential core competencies:
Advanced written and verbal English. We’re dealing with executives all around the globe so we need exceptional communication skills. Your spoken English needs to be fit for a board room and you must be able to accurately proofread multi-page documents
Respect, empathy and adaptable interpersonal skills. We’re dealing with people of different nations, faiths, sexualities, genders, and career aspirations. These people typically have 20 years plus career experience with multiple reasons for considering new employment. We need to understand their personal and professional motivations and adjust our working styles to support them to be successful wherever and whenever we can
Resilience with “pick yourself up and dust yourself down” self-drive. Even when you’ve considered hundreds of contenders, and think you’ve finally found the one perfect person in the world for any given role, the employer client can change the criteria on whom they’re really seeking. Or the job seeker can change their minds about progressing. Or employer business strategies can change and make the role just disappear. We guarantee there will be many, many days when you’re tearing your hair out. If you cannot handle high levels of pressure on a sustained basis, then this isn’t the job for you.
Emotional intelligence. Read up on it. You cannot be successful in this job without it.
Time management. We’re talking about the extreme kind – imagine a day with many interviews to be booked spanning multiple timezones, 2 reports to collate, a series of unsolicited phone calls to be handled, an avalanche of emails to be replied to, your fridge just broke down full of birthday party ice cream, and a dear friend has just lobbed on your doorstep needing a stiff drink and support with a family crisis. If you’re not a master juggler or spinner of plates: this isn’t the job for you.
Technically literate. We provide all the equipment and software and licences that you’ll need to do the job. But we don’t have the luxury of an IT team. So when your printer jams up, it’ll be up to you to figure out the fix. When Microsoft wants to upgrade software it’ll be up to you to click the right buttons. And with so many internet searches, email communications, and constant online meetings, you absolutely need to be confident with a keyboard!
Integrity and good manners. Reputation is everything in our industry. One missed call, one disrespectful treatment of a candidate or employer client, one mistruth; and you’ll have lost trust and respect. So you need to be the kind of person who delivers what you promise. And have the organisational skills to make sure you follow up on everything, all of the time.
Sensational instincts with a naturally consultative style. You need to be hard-wired with an innate sense of knowing when to push, to "drill down" on an answer, to know that something just doesn't add up. If your "gut feel" isn't a reliable barometer, this isn't the job for you.
What are we offering?
Home office work arrangement with flexibility for full time or part-time work
Intensive and extensive training in all aspects of the retained search industry (we’re great at getting newcomers up to speed and credible in this profession)
A company culture that isn’t just paying lip service to quality, service, respect
Highly varied and interesting work
Grown-up work environment (where you are expected to contribute ideas that add to the ongoing growth of the company rather than being “just an employee”)
A salary that only goes north as you add more value (with potential for pension and annual profit-sharing bonus as part of your package)
Planned travel (once travel is allowable again) for team events in London, Zurich, Beziers (you’ll need a current passport and full Covid vaccinations)
Fantastic people to work with (even if we say so ourselves !) Check out our leadership team. We have no time for company politics, and whilst we treat our work seriously, we still manage to have fun
A truly global candidate community and clients who are making and doing some pretty cool things (some of the biggest companies and brands in the world, and some exciting high growth and mission driven SME’s)
If this sounds like the kind of career role that just might be of interest to you, and that would build on your stable corporate work history; please do make contact directly via solutions@cartermorris.com with a current CV and covering note that helps us understand your strengths and interest for this role.
No individual queries can be taken (apologies but our current workload for paying clients restricts our time right now). However, every genuine applicant will receive a response within 48 working hours.
UK citizens/work visa holders only will be considered for this hire, and our preference is for a professional already based within or able to readily travel to Sidcup Kent in South East England.

Many job boards “scrape” websites to find job ads, tweak the content, and re-post them without permission to increase job seeker and potential advertiser appeal for their own site.
