Employee / Labor Relations Director for multi jurisdiction role - flex location within EMEA or Asia Pacific

HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT OFFER

This is definitely NOT your typical ER/labor relations leadership remit.

This is a newly created, high profile role within this well resourced, reputable, global brand company; with a need for thought leadership on strategies to enable stronger employee relations and employee engagement across all countries within the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions. In addition to ownership of pre-emptive planning, this person will be responsible for leading and inspiring a team of circa 20 highly competent managers who effect day to day case management and local labor relations management.

This person will be working directly with HR, and business leaders; to ensure consistency of policy interpretation, policy design, education design to minimise incidents, data analytics to identify and address recurring or potential “trouble spots”, risk analysis for pending organisational change, proactive framework development to accommodate pending legislation changes, and providing consultancy advice on social and cultural trends that need to be considered across the workforces of each country that this organisation operates from.

This person will be the ultimate “go to” expert for guidance for employee engagement risk impacts and compliance implications. Additionally, this person will be advising on market and cultural norms that could increase or decrease the company’s competitiveness to attract, retain and engage talent. And finally, this person will be a key advisor for plan implementation strategies and time-frames, and may well be involved in local communications to ensure successful change and ongoing employee engagement.

In short, rather than utilising the ER team for cleaning up messes after the fact, this future thinking company is choosing to engage ER expertise to achieve a holistic view on how the company achieves its ongoing growth objectives.

The role reports into a well respected, Global VP for ER; and will enjoy high levels of autonomy plus have the chance to directly contribute on broader global projects.

This is a very unusual chance for an ambitious labor law expert, to hone their team and project management skills, whilst contributing significant strategic input in creating policies and delivering tangible business solutions. This could be a perfect role for the in-house ER Leader who wants to work on more than just case management and who has a real flair for employee engagement. A challenging role for the HR generalist who has used his/her employment law degree to work in specialist ER roles….

We’re seeking an ER expert who offers fluent written & spoken English.  Other languages will be a plus given this role will span across multiple continents. An advanced working knowledge of Employment laws spanning multiple European and APAC countries will be well regarded, but is not essential given the level of local expertise within the team currently. Other hiring criteria include:

  •  A history working for large sized international corporations and/or the nous to be able to navigate successfully across complex, matrix, international company structures

  • An analytical mind-set with data savvy; and an ability to influence through facts rather than simply emotions

  • Fine attention to detail in the creation of processes, programmes and reporting tools to track, assess and review project issues

  • Ability to adjust your communication and presentation styles to an array of stakeholders

  • Advanced commercial savvy with an ability to interpret employment laws and contributing factors to employee engagement, across a variety of jurisdictions

  • Immediate gravitas, with the courage to influence and stand your ground whilst demonstrating a high degree of emotional intelligence

  • You will be known as a credible leader with an ability to challenge the status quo and innovate new process and solutions to achieve market leading results

There are fantastic career development prospects with this employer, particularly if you are globally mobile.

We have high levels of flexibility in where we base this role within EMEA or Asia Pacific, but regular (and planned) travel can be expected across the world so a current passport will be essential. Salary will be paid in currency local to your country of residence (sorry, this is not an expat employment contract!) and the reward package will include an above market (hefty!) performance bonus and other benefits..
