European Compensation and Benefits - blended strategic and tactical remit

ROLE FILLED - HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT OFFER

This well-resourced and reputable company has experienced accelerated growth over the many years we’ve partnered with them - a fantastic “employer of choice” who are innovating very cool solutions as market leaders in their industry.

They’ve reached a point of needing to upgrade their Reward capabilities across the European countries they currently operate within and plan to expand into, thus creating this role for a seasoned leader who will own Reward strategy and implementation across the region.

Reporting to a VP of Reward, based in the USA, this professional will have direct input into the audit of existing frameworks, and the refinement and/or complete re-design of these as necessary.  This person needs to improve on existing infrastructure, define new policies and create new comp tools and processes to support the ongoing company growth agenda.  This person also needs to provide expertise for the benefits agenda, particularly given the competitive landscape for attracting, engaging and retaining talent with globally scarce, niche skills.

This person will be a key advisor for

  • all organisational change projects where varying Reward elements may be critical for success

  • HR Business Partners in all instances where the Reward agenda may have impact on Union and Works Council interactions

  • M&A activities across the region where Reward risk and harmonisation are key considerations

  • Commercial teams who are planning to change and improve their sales incentives

  • key stakeholders who need to ensure the company remains competitive as an employer of choice

The workforce is spread over a small number of countries within the region currently, although there are plans for this to increase. Additionally, the commercial teams have very different performance pressures depending on the products they support and the markets they work within.  As a result, this person will need to tailor their rewards plans quite heavily, with a view for scalability, rather than adopting a “one size fits all for right now” approach.

The Reward team is lean, with 1 immediate report into this role, so prioritization and an ability to juggle strategic planning with operational delivery will be key. There is an increasing demand from key stakeholders to receive pro-active interventions and data intelligence, so this person may also be juggling demand for services vs team capabilities for effective delivery!

This high-profile role will require a leader who can offer deep technical expertise across all aspects of compensation strategy, along with extremely strong influencing skills across an array of international stakeholders.  Previous history with supporting technically minded, data-savvy workforces will be highly regarded, and a stable, tenured work history showing career progression within previous employer companies will be expected.

We have options to base this role from multiple sites within Germany, or from London in England, or Cork in Ireland. Salary will start from the equivalent of EUR 120,000, with a healthy bonus, LTIP and various benefits making up a very competitive package. Generous relocation support is also available if required for EU and UK citizens. Regular travel can be expected across the region and occasionally to the USA and Asia - likely to be in the order of at least 2-3 planned trips globally per year.
