HR Director - multi country scope from a Germany base, promotion fast track potential

HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT OFFER

This international company is seeking a commercially savvy HR leader, to own the HR agenda across key countries within Europe, in a role that is deemed critical to enabling business growth.

As the most senior leader for HR in the region, this person will be the "go to" advisor for the divisional Managing Director and key executives as they work to integrate acquisitions and create further commercial opportunities.

There is a small team of direct reports into this role, with varying levels of capability, so coaching, mentoring and creating a high performance, solutions focused, business partner culture will be required. There is already additional resource allocated to increase the team, which is a great indicator of the company’s investment into the HR function.

The company is in growth mode, and business leaders are demanding support for more robust frameworks and initiatives to enable increased levels of talent acquisition, engagement, productivity and retention. A genuine interest in pro active talent management will be useful - the workforce consists of niche skill & knowledge specialists, and  market demand for these professionals is very high, and competitive.

This HR leader will need to own all Works Council and union relationships across key countries. Germany particularly needs attention as historic dealings have not had a productive partnership approach.  A pro active strategist would be welcomed, so that all stakeholders are aligned well before organisational changes occur to accommodate company expansion.

This role will be based from offices in the Baden-Württemberg region, and will be a key member of the regional Leadership Team, undertaking occasional and planned travel within Europe. This person will also have frequent interaction directly with the company’s CHRO, and with multiple HR and Business projects rolling out for the company globally, there's no shortage of challenges that this HR Leader can contribute to, including interventions designed to improve cross-market communications, economies of scale, operational synergies and a “one company” culture.

An ambitious, commercially savvy professional can really fast track their career within this type of environment, and our ideal leader will have:

  • direct experience in driving growth through increasing workforce sizes and improving productivity

  • ability to read a P&L and interpret a balance sheet

  • demonstrated success in engaging and influencing Business Executives as a trusted HRBP

  • track record of successfully engaging and negotiating with German Works Councils and ideally other jurisdictional knowledge

  • fluent English and German language skills

  • history of strategic thinking combined with a track record for operational delivery - in these smaller sized companies there is a frequent need for “all hands to the pump”

  • a pragmatic, solutions focused approach (HR policy police won't last in this company!)

  • a history of inspiring and developing HR teams to achieve greater service delivery

  • current EU citizenship

  • a stable CV that shows development and career progression within historic employers - apologies but contractors cannot be considered for this role at this time.

Package includes base salary circa EUR 110,000 (depending on experience level), company car, competitive bonus and various benefits.  Relocation support is also on offer within Germany if required.
