Talent Acquisition Director - America plus global projects

ROLE FILLED - HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT OFFER

This organisation has already carved out a market leading niche that means they’ll soon be celebrating 100 years in business. An impressive success story, but there is a growing executive appetite to be more innovative and measured in their approach to talent acquisition, to ensure the company continues to secure the best quality of diverse talent in a particularly competitive speciality skills market.

So we’re seeking their new TA Director - someone who can lead and inspire a small team, whilst developing a function that offers proactive support, useful market intelligence, and genuine partnership to Business Leaders and HR teams; whilst also successfully delivering on an array of professional profile hiring mandates.

Reporting into supportive executive stakeholders, this person will inherit competing priorities inclusive of:

  • revamping TA frameworks and technology to drive efficiency of hiring results and effectiveness of resource allocation

  • gaining advocacy and credibility through transparent and accurate communications internally and externally

  • overhauling sourcing and screening methodologies to achieve talent pool diversity

  • stakeholder education to enable strong and consistent candidate experiences, exceptional quality of hire and offer : acceptance ratios, and improved new hires settlement

  • building and implementing an authentic employer value proposition, along with a multi-channel branding and communications strategy

  • risk management interventions to ensure employment legislation compliance

  • provision of expert subject matter counsel on TA best practice both within the US and abroad

  • tailoring TA policy, process and tools to suit regional stakeholders

  • developing workforce and succession planning to cut down on “panic” hiring

This role will particularly suit a TA professional who can influence through facts, data and commercially measurable rationale, rather than the recruitment leader who is “busy being busy” on tasks and policy policing. This person should offer thought leadership for “future state” talent acquisition models and methodologies.

And, as with many companies experiencing growth challenges in addition to an HR transformation agenda, there is a need for this person to have a “jack of all trades” mindset - there will be no shortage of change, ambiguity, critical projects and “all hands to the pump” moments.

Ideally, this person will be able to regularly attend the NYC offices to build and cement relationships - this is a “facetime” company culture with a workforce that enjoy working side by side, and where significant “water cooler” conversations are the norm; so whilst we have some flex on office attendance, this is not a remote working arrangement.

Occasional (and planned in advance) national and international travel is expected, so a current passport will be essential.

The “wish list” for hiring criteria is very reasonable, inclusive of:

  • A track record for successfully working through the complex matrix and reporting structures of a multinational company

  • Advanced commercial savvy with an ability to find TA solutions that match business needs

  • Courage to influence and stand your ground whilst demonstrating a high degree of emotional intelligence

  • Current US citizenship or green card status

This high profile role will attract a base salary of circa $200,000 (depending on expertise level) plus performance bonus, and if the company continues on its growth trajectory, there is no shortage of opportunity for the role to broaden further in scope and/or for this person to be moved to new international locations.
