European HR Director - FLEX LOCATION - from EUR 180,000 + package
HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT OFFER
This multinational employer will be seeking someone with 20+ years’ experience & well-rounded HR expertise, ideally with direct exposure to international workforces. The division spans multiple European countries and companies within a much larger parent corporation, who continue to grow through acquisition and new product development.
Supporting an executive team and a specialised workforce of circa 1500 people, this person will be accountable to set and deliver on a tailored HR strategy with a growth agenda.
Reporting into a VP of HR based in the US; this person will be one of the most senior and experienced HR team members in Europe, and will be expected to provide support in mentoring, coaching and upskilling current HR team capability across their own division and other divisions within the region. There are 2 very able & competent regional HRBP’s reporting into this person directly, and this person will have access to all the HR resources within the parent corporation, and other divisional groups; including some newly established CoE's for deep technical expertise.
The workforce spans across highly technical B2B commercial sales specialists who are operating with a particularly niche range of product lines, and within a multi- channel model. MBA’s and PhD’s abound, and I expect this workforce will provide many challenges to change given the level of expertise they have in their own core niches. Certainly a key challenge will be fostering ongoing creativity, innovation and entrepreneurialism; tempered with more robust and sustainable frameworks in a regulatory environment with heavy compliance needs.
To date, the business growth has been consistent, but HR frameworks haven’t kept up with that pace, so many aspects need to be revamped across areas like reward, talent, succession planning & more. Additionally, with the resources of the parent corporation fully available, a more aggressive approach to growth could be easily undertaken, as could better operating efficiencies in order to maximise profits.
The global leadership team has worked through a period of acquisitions, so a focus on executive coaching and reward for performance will be a priority in this role; along with advising on organizational design and culture harmonization. Knowledge sharing and coaching leaders on enabling others (instead of being top down directors) would also be a focus for this person. Overhaul of sales incentives to drive the right kinds of behaviours and more profitable results will also be high on the priority list.
This role will pay a minimum of EUR 180,000 base, plus bonus plus package + relocation support. One of the critical business leaders is based from Marburg, so a professional who can attend that location weekly will be highly regarded. Up to 30% short and long haul travel can be expected.
This is a high-profile role available to current EU citizens only, and success will certainly provide many ongoing development & progression opportunities within other divisions of the parent corporation around the world. English is the company language, German language skills for local integration will be useful, international country markets exposure will be a plus, and a strong track record for supporting commercial sales teams will be essential. We will be particularly interested in professionals who have lived & worked extensively outside of their home countries, and who offer stable, tenured careers within Fortune company employers.
