Global Total Rewards Leader - Massachusetts, USA, quasi-startup dynamic environment
ROLE FILLED - HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT OFFER
Rethink, reshape, and build frameworks to enable ongoing company expansion. Why do we do it this way? What should we be implementing to keep our plans relevant for the future? How do we ensure fairness and transparency for our employees? How can we use reward as a tool to drive sales and innovation? What do we need to do beyond gimmicks to be truly relevant to our work-forces, and desirable to target talent? These are just some of the focus areas of thought leadership for this role!
We're seeking a Compensation and Benefits specialist, with a flair for educating and guiding business leaders on reward decisions that will aid this “newly emerged” multinational of over 2,000 staff (and growing), to continue to be an employer of choice for years to come. A keen interest in sales compensation plan design, and executive compensation planning would also be useful given the planned scope for this role.
Leading a team of compensation, benefits and payroll experts located around the world, this is a high profile role, reporting into the CHRO. This person will be liaising on a daily basis with global, regional and country management teams and key HR executives. Adaptable communications, project management and influencing skills will need to be exceptional as a result.
This person will need to guide key stakeholders on best utilisation of budgets for annual incentives, LTIP, wellbeing, sign on & retention bonuses, and applying expert counsel on how to channel funds to be as effective as possible and stay competitive in the “war for talent”. This person will also be relied on to provide expert advice on creating consistency in utilising all elements of reward as a tool to improve on cross pollination of ideas, economies of scale, utilisation and transfer of talent. As the company continues to expand internationally, there is a need to consider a longer term view on exec comp strategies to encourage sustainable profitability is core to all business decisions.
This organisation has a suite of products and services that continue to be in demand; so ongoing growth plans are factored on organic expansion through the opening of new markets, new product additions, and acquisition. Their workforce is predominantly highly skilled with technical and engineering mindsets, many have globally scarce knowledge and are in high demand, and they’re scattered across the USA, Asia and Europe.
Our business execs are acutely mindful that “one size fits all” reward plans do not always encourage or reward the right behaviours. With a multi-generational workforce they are conscious that their reward strategies need to be appealing to a range of demographics. They’ve been working on job grading frameworks, but with a multinational workforce they’re mindful that cultural drivers will over-ride emphasis on comp versus benefits in some markets.
The company has experienced a track record for year on year growth since it’s inception, and has admirable frameworks and process given it is a relatively “new” organisation. At its heart, there is a culture of collaboration, easy access to leaders, entrepreneurism, and “all hands to the pump” to deliver results. We’ve hired for this company repeatedly, and enjoy the frankness of communications, the care for all levels of employees, and the ethics of the leadership team.
This role will be based in the Framingham area of MA, and given the high profile nature of this role and the appetite for execs to have “watercooler” conversations, we cannot offer a remote work arrangement, although flex work is certainly possible for someone living in Middlesex County.
Reward professionals with significant involvement for workforce planning and culture change management will be well regarded.
A multicultural mindset will be essential and a first-hand understanding of complex, matrix organisations will be ideal.
This person should have a track record of partnering successfully with teams outside of their direct control.
An advanced commercial acumen will be key
This role is open to US citizens, current Greencard holders and current US work visa holders. Relocation support is available for persons already based in the US and a base salary of circa US$200,000 plus benefits package is on offer.
