International HR VP, flexible London work hub + significant equity

ROLE FILLED - HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT OFFER

This role will join the newly appointed CHRO, for a circa USD 400 million revenue company, seeking to double in size in a short space of time – they’re cash rich with an already impressive track record for accelerated organic growth, and ongoing M&A activity.

We’re seeking a strong HR executive with a depth and breadth of technical skills, in addition to strategic HRBP abilities - this person will be responsible for day to day leadership of an HR function of highly varying capabilities, so a key priority will be on HR team development, building scaleable frameworks for growth, and utilisation of technology to provide stronger service delivery and enablement of business expansion.

Partnering with business executives across multiple geographies, this role will directly contribute to establishing sustainable people strategies that provide regional and global consistency, fairness, transparency and efficiency; without stifling innovation and creativity.  Working in this niche type of tech sector company, it is imperative that the workforce be encouraged and rewarded for ideas, to enable the company to continue their expansion within newly established and many, as yet, untapped markets.  This person will need to have a focus on solutions rather than policy hurdles!

Immediate challenges include:

  • Increasing headcount for globally niche skilled STEM talent in a highly competitive market

  • Change management support needed to accommodate a rapidly expanding workforce

  • Integrating an array of historic and planned company acquisitions with a tailored rather than one size fits all approach

  • Talent engagement, retention and development for niche skilled, globally scarce staffing profiles

  • The need to juggle between tactical delivery of operational necessities vs bigger picture strategy development and thought leadership.

This organisation has worked hard to keep their entrepreneurial roots’ and they still have the agility of decision making that is typical of a fast track company – collaboration remains in their DNA.  Particularly impressive when the leadership team are scattered around the world rather than clustered in a global HQ.

They also have the maturity to recognise that robust frameworks will be key to enable significant and sustainable growth and it’s exciting to see they have the cash and executive support to invest in quality HR leadership.

Our ideal professional will have:

  • A history of working successfully across the complicated matrix of multinational companies, for the first-hand understanding of what “good” HR can comprise; in addition to

  • First-hand experience of the “getting stuck in” element that is part of any young, dynamically growing organisation with an aptitude to “roll up your sleeves” and help with whatever is needed to get the job done in this quasi start up environment!

  • Advanced commercial acumen, along with credible leadership presence, and the ability to deal with “now” as the constant deadline expectation!

  • Exposure to M&A either from due diligence and/or integration & harmonisation perspectives will be useful.

  • Gravitas to influence and guide executive level stakeholders.

  • Career runway to be the “in waiting” successor to the current CHRO

  • Deep subject matter expertise in one of the core specialims of HR (eg: Total Reward, Org Design, HR Operations etc) in addition to broad generalist knowledge will be particularly useful

  • Direct experience working with data driven workforces will be highly regarded.

  • A stable, salaried career history - apologies, but the hiring leaders do not wish to engage career contractors or consultants.

  • Any additional languages to business-level fluency in addition to a history of having lived and worked extensively outside of the UK (with the option for continued global mobility) will be a great advantage.

  • Finally, any work history outside of the HR function, any direct experience with HR digitalisation, and evidence of creating “future of work” frameworks will be particularly well regarded - our hiring leaders have limited appetites for “conventional” policy and process-oriented HR leadership

Relocation support from EU countries into the UK is available for someone who can regularly juggle working from a London office, in addition to working from home.
