Divisional Learning & Development Leader - Berkshire, UK - from £120,000 + package

ROLE FILLED - HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT OFFER

After a period of acquisitions and mergers, this company needs an expert to design and deliver Learning & Development initiatives that will help to consolidate operational changes, policy and process’ plus unify cultures - all with a view to driving future product innovation and fulfilling the career ambitions of their employees.

This company is cash-rich, with a track record for investing in talent to ensure they have the staffing capabilities to help meet ongoing growth plans.  The workforce is scattered over various countries, and are typically excited about their careers, as they’re doing interesting and challenging work that is mission-driven, and literally helping improve the lives of their end-product users.

At this time, the company executives want to invest further in advancing the technical and soft skill expertise of their employees, to help them be even more successful, plus encouraged and able to develop innovative product ideas and solutions that allow for ongoing market expansion. Additionally, with much of the workforce being made up of STEM talent, the provision of robust and relevant L&D support will be a key advantage for talent attraction and retention and ongoing engagement, in a highly competitive employment market.

So this person will need to be thinking about developing robust career and mobility pathways, leadership development, creating cross-functional and cross-cultural learning opportunities, developing sustainable graduate entry programs, promoting experienced hire mentoring programs, and so much more! Some work will be needing design from scratch, others might be tailored from existing company programs, and others still might need to be scaled for application in other company subsidiaries.

This organisation has worked hard to keep their ‘entrepreneurial roots’ and they still have the agility of decision making (often around water coolers!) that is typical of a rapid growth company – collaboration remains in their DNA.   This is also a data-driven commercial environment where ROI is key, so we need a professional who can influence through analytics rather than pure emotion.  And a professional who can apply a variety of learning methodologies; especially when there is budget and appetite to innovate with these.

Key at all times will be the design, implementation and refinement of frameworks for regional and global consistency, fairness and efficiency; without stifling innovation and creativity.  This person will need to have a focus on solutions rather than policy hurdles!

Our ideal professional will have a history of working successfully across the complicated matrix of multinational companies, for the first-hand understanding of what “good” HR can comprise.  But this professional will have also had first-hand experience of the “getting stuck in” element that is part of any dynamically growing organisation.

Advanced commercial acumen will be critical, along with credible leadership presence, and the ability to deal with “now” as the constant deadline expectation!  This person will need to build a team, manage a budget, and provide strategic advice to business leaders and various corporate executives inclusive of global L&D leaders and HR leaders, so exceptional written and verbal English will be essential as will be inspiring presentation skills.

Relocation support within the UK is available and some (planned) domestic and long haul travel should be expected.  This role is only available to current UK citizens and residents with current UK work visas.  Any experience in having lived and worked across multiple countries will be very highly regarded.

Base salary starting from £120,000 plus STIP, and other benefits are on offer as part of a highly competitive package.

Interested professionals can apply directly and in confidence via solutions@cartermorris.com and quoting reference CMTS00290.
