Global VP Talent Management - flex for EU or USA base

This company needs to add expertise into the HR leadership team after signficant growth through a combination of an acquisition agenda, organic market expansion and development of new product and service offerings.

As a result, we’re seeking a leader who will own accountability for Talent Management strategies spanning TA, L&D, workforce planning and DEI. This person will be key to enabling the company to deliver on an agenda of investing in workforce capabilities through consistent tools and frameworks, that will in turn help drive a company culture for ongoing innovation whilst fulfilling the skill and career development ambitions of their workforce.

With an experienced team of experts reporting into this role, and many indirect reports, this person will be the talent management thought leader who will be called upon to proactively advise C-suite and board level executives. Priorites include inspiring, developing and “joining up the dots” for the wider talent management team, in addition to designing and delivering strategies that span technical training, competency frameworks, succession planning, cross functional and cross cultural learning, mobility, early careers and internship programs, mentoring, leadership development, and more.

The workforce is scattered over various locations across the globe and whilst there is clearly an appetite for Talent Management interventions, we expect the demand for programs, tools and solutions may quickly exceed the ability to supply - a nice problem for this person to be tackling!

With significant numbers of the workforce being made up of engineering, science, and commercial sales specialists, in addition to production and supply chain teams, the provision of robust and relevant Talent Management initiatives will be a key advantage for talent attraction, retention and ongoing engagement, in a highly competitive employment market.

This is a data-driven commercial environment where ROI is key, so we need a professional who can influence through analytics rather than pure emotion; and who can comfortably anticipate measurable commercial improvements as a result of Talent Management interventions.

Key at all times will be the tailoring of regional frameworks whilst ensuring global consistency, fairness, efficiency and transparency.

Our ideal professional will have

  • a history of working successfully across the complicated matrix of multinational companies with a first-hand understanding of what “great” Talent Management entails.

  • likely worked as a delivery expert in a combination of TA, L&D and workforce planning roles before having owned the entire TM agenda for science, engineering and commercial sales workforces

  • advanced commercial acumen, along with credible leadership presence.

  • an ability to deal with “sooner rather than later” as the constant deadline expectation.

  • advanced written and verbal English, and fluency for any other languages will be welcomed

  • executive level presentation skills.

  • ideally worked whilst living across multiple countries, either as an expat or as a global citizen.

We have a “wish list” of additional criteria that we’re happy to share with proven Talent Management expert leaders.

We will ideally base this role within the EU or the USA for ease of global timezone interactions. Regular but well planned travel across continents will be expected to consolidate relationships with both the team reporting into this role, and with an array of other stakeholders.

A base salary of equivalent USD 330,000 plus package are on offer with genuine options to progress laterally and vertically within the company.

Interviews are being scheduled currently with a view to the person commencing before the summer.
