Employee / Labor Relations Manager for significant project advisory role - London base
HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT OFFER
This is definitely NOT your typical ER/labor relations role.
This company, one of our favourite multinational employers, is upgrading its employee benefits frameworks to increase employee utilisation and engagement. They want to continue being an employer of choice and are keen to ensure that their benefits programs are desirable to their staff, and appropriate to their varied demographics and national cultures.
As a result, we need an employment law expert to add a different lens to a multi functional project team, to help ensure a smooth and rapid change process across multiple jurisdictions.
This is a newly created, high profile role within this well resourced, reputable, global brand company; with initial employment via a 12 month fixed term contract, and an intent to extend depending on the success of the project.
This person will be working directly with C&B, HR, and business leaders; to ensure accuracy for the audit of existing employee benefits in each country, to help assess whether those benefits are fit for purpose, to advise on whether benefits are fair and relevant for individuals and whether there are any compliance gaps. For proposed changes, this person will be giving guidance for employee engagement risk impacts and compliance implications. Additionally, this person will be advising on market and cultural norms that could increase or decrease the company’s competitiveness to attract, retain and engage talent. And finally, this person will be a key advisor for plan implementation strategies and time-frames, and may well be involved in local communications to ensure successful change and ongoing employee engagement.
In short, rather than utilising an ER expert for cleaning up messes after the fact, this future thinking company is choosing to engage ER expertise to achieve a holistic view and informed assessment, prior to embarking on any employee benefit modifications.
The role reports into a well respected, Global VP for ER; and will enjoy direct mentoring and development from this impressive professional. This person will also be able to harness the support of accomplished ER case managers working on day to day employee relations matters across other regions throughout the world.
This is a very unusual chance for an ambitious labor law expert, to hone their project management skills, whilst achieving significant strategic input in creating policies and delivering tangible business solutions! This could be a perfect role for the in-house ER Manager who wants to work on more than just case management. A great role for the employment lawyer who wants to segue from a legal practice into a corporate career. A challenging role for the HR generalist who has formal employment law qualifications and a real flair for employee engagement….
We’re seeking an ER expert who offers fluent written & spoken English. Other languages will be a plus given this role will span across multiple continents. An advanced working knowledge of Employment laws spanning multiple European and APAC countries will be well regarded, but is not essential given the level of mentoring and development available from other ER team members globally. Other hiring criteria include:
A history working for large sized international corporations and/or the nous to be able to navigate successful across complex, matrix, international company structures
An analytical mind-set with data savvy; and an ability to influence through facts rather than simply emotions
Fine attention to detail in the creation of processes, programmes and reporting tools to track, assess and review project issues
Ability to adjust your communication and presentation styles to an array of stakeholders
Advanced commercial savvy with an ability to interpret employment laws and contributing factors to employee engagement, across a variety of jurisdictions
Immediate gravitas, with the courage to influence and stand your ground whilst demonstrating a high degree of emotional intelligence
You will be known as a credible leader with an ability to challenge the status quo and innovate new process and solutions to achieve market leading results
There are fantastic career development prospects with this employer, particularly if you are globally mobile.
The role will require current EU citizenship. Regular (and planned) travel can be expected across the world so a current passport will be essential. Based ideally from London, the circa £70,000 base salary will be accompanied by an above market (hefty!) performance bonus and other benefits..
