US HR Leader – California based

This interesting and varied role will offer many challenges for the HR leader who is motivated for continuous improvement, and who thrives in a complex, matrix, multicultural work environment. It will be ideal for the modern HR thinker who is constantly looking for ways to add measurable commercial value to the business, and is comfortable working with senior leadership teams.

This well established company is going through a cycle of extreme change, scaling for new product launches, upgrading on production efficiencies, and upgrading their commercial approaches to market. As a result this HR leader will be relied upon heavily to help with various change management projects, in addition to providing counsel on employee relations risks, organisational re-design, plus talent attraction, engagement & retention.  There are good HR foundations in place which will need to be built on and improved.

This person will also focus on developing, inspiring and managing the HR team supporting two manufacturing locations in California.

There is no shortage of additional projects to be worked through including:

  •  Evolving and upskilling the HR function to meet the businesses growth plans.

  • Application of Lean / Kaizen / Six Sigma / continuous improvement methodologies to improve business efficiencies.

  • Alignment of regional HR processes with global HR strategy.

  • Workforce planning optimisation to maximise productivity, manage succession plans, and create effective knowledge transfer and benefits management.

  • Creation of a long-term Talent Acquisition and Management strategy (further growth cannot happen without hiring additional employees and investing in their professional development and career pathways)

  • Leadership development and coaching for management teams at each location (who currently have a range of tenure and skill levels).

Key stakeholders for this role are wanting this person to be visibly present, and “showing up” as an inspiring and supportive presence so this role will be based in the Laguna Beach area with regular planned travel to San Diego.

Package includes a base salary from USD 175,000 (potential to increase depending on expertise level) plus benefits.
